Introduction All students are required to complete 2,500-word writing assignment as part of the Cluster Area Requirement subject. This assignment is completed as a process of two drafts and a final assignment in collaboration with the English Language Centre.
Objectives The ELC’s Writing Requirement (EWR) aims to help you develop English language and communication skills, understand the genre of your assignment, and improve critical and logical quality of writing through response to the ELC teacher’s feedback. This process supports your development of effective life-long learning strategies and skills in relation to writing.
Key Points of the English Writing Requirement (EWR):
Writing improves through draft and feedback process.
This entire EWR process is on the EWR website at http://learn.polyu.edu.hk, (not the CAR subject website.)
Look for helpful reminder emails and announcements from “EWR team”.
Use the Checklist/Cover page to write your drafts.
EWR marks (10 points) for the second draft based on task fulfillment, organization, language and revisions (based on ELC teacher’s feedback).
If you don’t submit a first or second draft, you lose EWR marks (10 points of your grade).
After the EWR process, submit your final draft to your CAR teacher.
